About Our Company

CNC Machine Shop

Founded in 1997, Solors Optional Axis Inc. is a family-owned & operated Elk River machine shop with more than 35 years of experience in specialized CNC machining and job shop services.

Our capabilities distinguish us.

Our three, four, and five-axis machining capabilities provide you with cost-effective options to produce your product.

We combine years of experience with technical know-how to brainstorm ideas, offer solutions, suggest resources, and get the job done. Show us what you want to create, and we can make it.

We're respected in our industry.

Dave Solors has more than 35 years of experience in the machining industry. He started cabinetmaking in the early 1980s, competing at the national level until he had the opportunity to learn how to program CNC equipment in Italy. He spent seven years training with CMS machines and worked for the company that brought the first woodworking CMS to the United States.

Dave’s early work included machining components for a customer that supplied window grills to Anderson Windows, a complex and delicate task when it came to fixturing. Dave came up with workholding solutions to machine the window grills in one setup and saw an opportunity to start a business. Dave branched off to start his own company, providing CNC machining services to a wide range of customers.

We take pride in a job well done.

As a family-owned company, we value the relationships we form with our customers and approach each project with a passion for learning and collaboration. We offer our expertise during initial consultations and production, applying our skills to inform and guide customers toward the right solutions, both in-house and through referrals when necessary.

We're easy to work with.

Our process begins with an initial consultation, during which we’ll take a look at the intended project and give you a free estimate for our services. We encourage customers to choose their own material so it has the desired appearance, qualifications, and features, but we can also recommend alternative products. Our machinists have many years of experience developing or reviewing part drawings for manufacturability.

In addition to free consultations, we provide fast setup with minimal charges and custom fixturing techniques. At Solors, we maintain regular, responsive communication from start to finish.
